Claude Code (Anthropic)

  • Claude Fable 5 Launch: Anthropic has released "Claude Fable 5," a Mythos-class model reportedly exceeding previous general-availability capabilities. Available in Claude Code version 2.1.170.
  • Ultracode Setting: A new setting in the effort menu allows users to set the effort level to "xhigh," letting Claude autonomously manage complex workflows for difficult tasks.
  • Performance Improvements:
- macOS startup is now ~60ms faster due to parallel keychain credential reading. - --resume performance is up to 45% faster on large, fork-heavy sessions.
  • Custom Models: Added ANTHROPIC_CUSTOM_MODEL_OPTION environment variable to allow custom entries in the /model picker.
  • Bug Fixes: Fixed Fable 5 model name normalization and removed a Windows sandbox startup warning.

Claude API / Platform Updates

  • Session Archiving: Users can now archive sessions via the TUI (/archive) or CLI (codex archive). Archived sessions are protected from being resumed or forked until restored.
  • MCP Integration: App-server integrations can now resume threads with initial turns and display richer MCP (Model Context Protocol) server status.

OpenAI Codex CLI

  • Local Sandboxing: Continued focus on local-level security using Seatbelt/Landlock paths.
  • Codex Cloud: Clarified distinction between local CLI sandboxing and codex cloud exec, which runs tasks in OpenAI-hosted containers.

OpenCode (opencode-ai/opencode)

  • v1.17.7 Release: Released on June 14, 2026, focusing on core stability.
  • Ecosystem Growth: OpenCode continues its momentum with over 160k stars, cementing its role as the primary provider-agnostic open-source terminal agent.
  • Provider Support: Maintains connectivity to 75+ AI providers, allowing users to swap between Claude, GPT, Gemini, and Llama models seamlessly.
